Here's a Look at Chris Evans' New Transformation for Netflix Thriller 'The Gray Man'
Chris Evans has shared a first-look photo of his character in the upcoming Netflix action film, The Gray Man. Giving fans a taste of his look as Lloyd Hansen, an unhinged assassin on the trail of Court Gentry (played by Ryan Gosling), Evans appears holding a gun and dressed in black against a backdrop of jewel-colored lights. Looking chiseled, Evans sports a close-cropped haircut and sinister moustache and captioned the picture “The Russo Brothers knocked this one out of the park!”.
The film is based on a 2009 novel by Mark Greaney, which tells the story of a cat and mouse chase around the globe between two ruthless assassins. When Court Gentry (Gosling), a freelance mercenary working for the CIA, accidentally uncovers some dark agency secrets, his former psychopathic colleague, Lloyd Hansen (Evans), sets out to shut him down.
With a reported production budget of $200 million, the film is the most expensive made by Netflix to date. It’s being billed as the first in a Bourne-style action franchise for Gosling, who is expected to continue playing Gentry in sequels. Directed and produced by The Russo Brothers, the original script was written by Joe Russo and updated by Avengers screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Put simply, with Marvel firepower and a budget this large, expect to have your socks blown off.
Evans’ collaboration with the Russo Brothers has been entrenched for some years, covering the Captain America and Avengers franchises, in which Evans plays the souped-up all-American hero. The Gray Man also sees Evans reunited with Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas as a CIA operative as well as Billy Bob Thornton and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star, Julia Butters. There's great news for Bridgerton fans, too: breakout star and heartthrob Regé-Jean Page also joins the lineup.
The Gray Man is set for a limited theater release on July 15, 2022, followed by its release on Netflix on July 22, 2022.
