Halsey reflects on her pregnancy: ‘It’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly’
Pregnant singer Halsey says she's been "thinking lots about my body" while expecting her first child.
"It's strange to watch yourself change so quickly," she wrote on Instagram on Thursday evening. "I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about 'womanhood' but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely. My sensitivity to my body has made me hyper aware of my humanness and that's all."
The 26-year-old, who has spoken openly about her desire to be a mother and her struggles with reproductive health along the way, went on to say that her body is "Doing a remarkable thing. And it's grand." Still, she expected to feel differently through the process.
"I thought there would be a lot of expectation or pressure on me to wake up everyday feeling like some 'girly-girly fertility goddess,' but instead I wake up and eat when I'm hungry, sleep when I'm tired, and focus on growing a human," she continued in the comment section. "And that is all I expect myself to do. Liberating!"
Katy Perry, who gave birth to her first child back in August, commented "You're about to perform a real miracle, get that rest and just be!" Fans of Halsey also commented to share their support of her. "That's so beautiful," one person wrote. "Sending you love and light on this parenthood journey."
Halsey also showed off a tattoo on her belly that reads "baby," which many people said was "fitting."
The singer hasn't confirmed how far along she is after announcing her pregnancy with boyfriend Alev Aydin in January. But, she expressed, "I hope the feeling lasts."
