Hallmark's ‘Home and Family’ Host Cameron Mathison Is Battling Kidney Cancer
Hallmark's Home and Family host Cameron Mathison is battling kidney cancer.
Doctors found a tumor on his right kidney that's "consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma."
He has surgery in September, and is asking for "positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever you feel comfortable with."
Cameron Mathison, the host of Hallmark’s Home and Family show, has revealed he’s battling kidney cancer.
Cameron, 50, opened up about the news in a detailed Instagram post, where he explained how he discovered his diagnosis and how he’s feeling now.
“I have a health situation that I want to share with you all,” he wrote. “There are many reasons I love social media, staying connected with you all, sharing fun experiences... well this time I’m asking for your help.”

He continued, “About a month ago, I had an MRI for some gut issues I’ve been having, and during that MRI they found a tumor on my right kidney. It’s consistent with Renal Cell Carcinoma ... or kidney cancer.”
Cameron explained that it “hasn’t spread to any other organs,” and that his healthy lifestyle and diet has “no doubt” improved his condition. But he also revealed that his doctors predict the tumor has been growing in him for 10 years, at the minimum.
“I am extremely lucky that we found it early,” he said. “Thank you to my longtime friend and urologist @jon_giddens who has helped me tremendously through this process. Vanessa, Lucas and Leila have been absolutely amazing with their love and support... as have my mom, dad, brother, and everyone at Home and Family, Hallmark, and ET.”

Cameron’s surgery is set for September 12, and he asked that his followers send all the positive thoughts they can. Though it surely has been a struggle for Cameron and his family—which includes wife Vanessa and their kids Leila, 13, and Lucas, 16—he’s continuing to stay positive.
“Feeling very grateful and optimistic!!” he said.
