Hades will be included for free for Netflix members, but only if they have an iPhone or iPad.

Netflix Geeked Week has come to a close, but not without a host of fantastic announcements for both Netflix’s video streaming service and Netflix’s mobile games service. The latter saw games like Katana Zero, Braid, and Death’s Door announced to be joining the best games on Netflix, but one game in particular is turning all the heads — for better and for worse.
Netflix announced over the weekend that the hit indie darling Hades from Supergiant Games would be headed to Netflix’s mobile game distribution service, and will be included at no extra cost for Netflix subscribers at any tier. There’s just one problem though: it’s only going to be available on iPhones and iPads.
Pretty much every Netflix game up until this point has been available on all mobile platforms – Android (both handheld and tablet), iOS for iPhones, and iPadOS – but for whatever reason, Hades bucks the trend. It seems like Android fans are out of luck in the future too, as revealed in a blog post on the Supergiant website:
Is Hades also coming to Android devices?
We appreciate the interest though we have no plans for additional versions of Hades at this time.
That’s a huge bummer, honestly, given how many people own Android phones — about 45% of all smartphones in North America and about 70% of smartphones globally use Google’s open-source operating system. Hades is a fantastic game, and it being on Netflix for everybody would really give most people no excuse to check it out.
Supergiant says that Hades will be exclusively available on iOS through Netflix “for the foreseeable future.” It’s been developed in cooperation with outsourcing development company Secret 6, and should work on any iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later — though that’s not 100% locked in yet by the sounds of it.
Hades on iOS will also support “fully customizable” touch controls designed specifically for the iOS version of the game, as well as full controller support for any bluetooth controller that works on iPhones and iPads. It’ll also support cloud saves and achievements, but cross-save with any existing version of Hades is not supported.
Hades is set to be released on iOS via Netflix Games in 2024. No further date has been announced.
