Guy Fieri’s Oklahoma Restaurant Closed 3 Days After Opening Because An Employee Tested Positive For COVID
Guy Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar opened on July 7 to the public, but by July 10 it was already closed down again. The decision comes after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The restaurant is located inside the Choctaw Casino & Resorts in Durant, OK. In a July 7 Facebook post, Guy's restaurant said that it was officially back open. The initial grand opening was set to take place in April, but due to the pandemic it was pushed back. Now, after the employee's positive coronavirus status, it is temporarily closed.
Dallas News reported that managers at the restaurant found out about the worker's COVID-19 status on July 10. The restaurant closed immediately in order to thoroughly clean it. This location of Guy Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar overlooks the resort's pool and has an outdoor patio for dining.
According to a March report by Fox 23, Guy chose this location for his namesake restaurant because of his experience shooting Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives in Oklahoma.
"I've shot Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in Oklahoma and all over Texas and let me tell you, this part of the country knows good food," he said. "And in Durant in particular, you've got some good folks looking for real deal, scratch-made food, great cocktails, and a big time party…and the Choctaw Casino & Resort brings the heat!"
There are no announcements regarding when Guy Fieri's American Kitchen & Bar plans to reopen on the Choctaw Casino & Resorts website.
