Great Khalid Foundation gives backpacks to 50 students in San Eli
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Great Khalid Foundation is teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club of El Paso to give out 50 backpacks filled with school supplies to students in San Elizario.
The two organizations will visit Alarcon Elementary School, 12501 Socorro Road, on Monday, Aug. 12 for the giveaway.
Fifty students, who are members of Club Alarcon, one of 12 Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso based on elementary or middle-school campuses, will be getting the backpacks, according to a release sent out by the Boys and Girls Club of El Paso.
“Our goal is to provide children with the tools they need to focus on their studies and be successful in the classroom,” said Linda Wolfe, executive director of The Great Khalid Foundation. “In all of our initiatives, we strive to alleviate some financial burden for parents and provide an opportunity for kids. We enjoy opportunities that give back to our community and put a smile on the faces of children.”
“We are deeply grateful to The Great Khalid Foundation for choosing Club Alarcon as the recipient of the Great Backpack Giveaway,” said Anthony Tomasheski, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of El Paso. “Your generous support is equipping our Club kids with the essential tools for their educational journey and inspiring them with hope and confidence as they start the new school year. A heartfelt thank you to The Great Khalid Foundation and Linda Wolfe for making such a positive impact on our community.”
The Great Khalid Foundation is the charitable foundation for R&B singer Khalid, who calls El Paso his hometown.
