‘PEN15’ Season 2 on Hulu Is Almost Here—and the Trailer Has Us All Kinds of Excited
Prepare for even more adolescent jokes with Hulu’s trailer for PEN15 season two.
This month, the streaming service debuted a first look at the upcoming episodes, which will premiere on September 18. Season two will pick up right where we left off in the previous installment, following Anna and Maya as they navigate middle school in the midst of their awkward years.
Here’s everything we know about PEN15 season two.
1. What is PEN15 about?
PEN15 offers a real-life depiction of middle school, documenting the day-to-day drama of a group of students, whose lives can be shattered by a simple rumor about gel pens.
2. Who’s in PEN15?
The entire original cast is expected to return for season two, including Maya Erskine (Maya), Anna Konkle (Anna), Mutsuko Erskine (Yuki), Melora Walters (Kathy), Dylan Gage (Gabe), Taylor Nichols (Curtis), Taj Cross (Sam) and Anna Pniowsky (Heather). Aka, get ready for a full-blown reunion.
3. Is there a trailer?
Absolutely (see above). The trailer offers a tease of what’s to come in the upcoming season. While the teens are on a mission to grow up, they’re starting to learn that it’s not all it’s chalked up to be. “I think we are on another level,” a voiceover says.
4. When did PEN15 premiere?
The show originally premiered in February 2019 and immediately caught the public’s attention for its heavy dose of nostalgia. (This includes everything from prank calls and ’90s music to all things AOL—like AIM screennames and that God-awful dial-up noise.)
5. Who created PEN15?
The Awesomeness TV series is co-written and created by Erskine and Konkle, who also play 13-year-old versions of themselves. The catch? They’re surrounded by actual middle schoolers, and yes, it’s blatantly obvious.
Erskine and Konkle co-wrote the series alongside Sam Zvibleman. The trio also served as executive producers, along with Debbie Liebling, Marc Provissiero, Brooke Pobjoy, Becky Sloviter, Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer.
If you need us, we’ll be digging into our old AIM messages. (You know, for research.)
