Grab All Your Friends: This Giant Concha Ice Cream Cake Feeds 15 People
Riddle me this: Is there anything more emblematic of summer than chowing down on a good ice cream sandwich? It's such a perfectly summer dessert, even if most start melting in approximately 45 seconds. And while we'll always have a soft spot for the classic black-and-white bars, Azules Coffee's Giant Concha Ice Cream Cakes are equally worthy of your dessert attention.
The Anaheim, CA coffee and dessert shop serves up plenty of ice cream cakes, cheesecakes, cakes, and flan, but the star of the menu is really this oversized concha cake. One cake feeds between 15 to 20 people thanks to the bigger-than-your-head cake and quart of ice cream inside.
In case you're not familiar, concha is a sweet Mexican bread with a crunchy cookie-like crust (that's the pink and brown speckles you see in the video above and picture below). Each one is sliced in half and sandwiched around your choice of ice cream: They serve flavors like horchata, marzipan, vanilla, strawberry, cookies and cream, and Nutella. Then, half the ice cream sandwich is dipped in warm, melty chocolate. We'll be cutting ourselves a hefty slice, thank you very much.
While you'll have to head to California to try it, there's another alluring destination nearby...Disneyland is less than a 15 minute drive from Azules! For more Anaheim eats check out this chocolatey dessert fettuccine and meaty BBQ platter-it comes with a full beer can chicken.
