A 'God Of War'-Like 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin' Video Game Is Coming
According to reports, a video game adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is on its way. Written by original TMNT creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, alongside Tom Waltz and Andy Kuhn with art from Kuhn and Ben Bates, the 2020 limited-run comic series delves back into the dark and gritty nature of the original comics.
Based on an unused idea for Mirage comics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin features five issues and chronicles a war-ravaged future where Michelangelo is the only Ninja Turtle remaining up against the Foot Clan following their conquest of New York. Traversing the treacherous wasteland, Michaelangelo seeks vengeance for his lost family and friends.
In a recent interview, Doug Rosen, Senior Vice President for Games and Emerging Media at Paramount Global, shared that the game was currently in development. Adding that the unnamed project will be a third-person action role-playing game similar to God of War.
Rosen assures that the game will be "authentic" to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin series with devs not having to "dial back" to make the game "something it shouldn’t be." Rosen ended the interview by revealing that he sees "opportunities for multiple TMNT games aimed at both young and more mature age groups" with varied approaches for each section.
Stay tuned for more information regarding the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin video game now expected to be a "few years off."
