For many of us, being pregnant is so demanding on the body, it can feel like you're training for the Olympics. But track star Sarah Brown actually trained for the real Olympics, while pregnant! Now that's impressive.
And just five months before the Summer Games kick off in Rio, the runner has given birth to a baby girl. She took to Instagram to share the first photos of her daughter, who came a few weeks early, and announce the baby's adorable name.
"It's been a busy last few days but thank you so much to everyone for the kind words, prayers, visits, support and love! Abigail Ann got to come home last night & our trio is completed," Brown captioned the collage of images, which included her trainer husband Darren.
Unbelievably, the new mom continued to run 10 to 12 miles four times per week, throughout her pregnancy. "To maybe the average person it's going to look crazy," she said before the birth. But for this would-be gold medalist, who is considered a top contender in track and field, giving up running would be crazy!
Brown did slow down a bit while pregnant; she first knew something was off with her body when she wasn't performing like she usually does. "You're so in tune to your body, and my body was at its peak fitness," she explained. "I had been running the best times I had ever run [and then] I couldn't get through one interval of a workout." After discovering pregnancy was the cause of the change, she kept training but put the safety of her developing baby first.
No word on how long it will take the Olympic hopeful to get back in peak shape for the Summer Games. But given that she trained throughout her pregnancy, I'm guessing she's going to be all set to totally blow us away in Rio. It's actually Abigail, though, who she hopes to impress most.
"The message I'd want my daughter take away is to go after your dream and do not be afraid to try," Brown said.
We'll be cheering for you, Sarah!
