While all couples have their own way of making their relationship work, when it comes to George and Amal Clooney, they "start with love." George shared this sentiment on CBS Mornings in a joint interview with Amal, and added that this is truly the "whole secret" to their happy marriage—and has been since day one. "It's just been easy, like the easiest thing we have done in our lives thus far," he added, Us Weekly reports. "We've never had an argument."
Amal added that a key reason why she doesn't clash with her husband is because they are truly a perfect match. "I think that it's 99% luck just to meet the right person," she said. "And I think the one thing we would take is to not be cynical, just to be open, and I was surprised that you were not cynical or guarded at all and things just moved very quickly."

In the past, the actor has also opened up about how he and Amal prioritize communication, even when they aren't physically talking. He told AARP the Magazine that they have always penned handwritten love notes to each other, even during quarantine when they spent more time together. "In lockdown, I'll write a letter and slip it on her desk, or she'll write a letter and leave it under the pillow," he said. "I'm a big believer in letters."
For the married couple of eight years, taking the time to write out these love notes means the world. "If it were a text, it would feel different," George said. "Maybe that's a generational thing, and maybe it won't be that way 20 years from now, but for me, somebody sat down and wrote it."
