‘Genius’ Five Guys hack has fans chowing down on BOGO burgers as chain goes viral for price gouging
They’re bona-fried heroes.
Two grub-happy TikTokers shared a money-saving hack that showed burger fans how to beat inflation-era prices at fast food chain Five Guys — and their followers are cheering them on.
“Next time you’re at Five Guys, just order a double cheeseburger with all the toppings,” the cost-conscious couple behind @nateandsaraheats revealed in a quick clip posted on the popular social media site, viewed over 222,000 times.
Next, they explained how to turn that one double into two single cheeseburgers — starting by asking for an extra bun on the side.
Once you have everything, take one of the two patties, along with any other desired toppings or condiments — which are free, so load up — and transfer them over to the second bun, the pair advised.
“That’s two meals for less than half the price of buying them separately,” according to the thrifty twosome.
The discount-loving duo also pointed to the size of an order of Five Guys fries — thrown in brown bags, practically by the pound — and noted that a small is enough to split between two normal eaters.
“That’s [a] pretty genius hack honestly,” one person commented.
“This is so smart,” added another.
The hot-off-the-grill advice comes as the global burger chain went viral on X Friday over its sky-high prices — which in some cities can make that mythical McDonald’s $18 Big Mac Meal seem downright reasonable.
The patty palaver unfolded after a diner posted a receipt from a $24 meal at the pro-peanut joint.
At the chain’s W. 48th St. location in Midtown Manhattan, a cheeseburger, regular fries, and a regular Coke costs $26.95 when ordering online — before suggested gratuity.
Two years ago, another TikToker begrudgingly posted a Five Guys receipt for $70 — the meal was for two people, it was reported at the time.
