Geauga Park District once again has seasonal 'ropes and boats' recreational offerings
Jun. 4—Geauga Park District recently announced the reopening of its seasonal "ropes & boats" recreational offerings.
Those interested in climbing the high ropes course 32 feet in the treetops at Claridon Woodlands, 11383 Claridon Troy Road in Chardon, can reserve an hour to climb in the park district's online reservation module, which also allows people to check availability first.
Admission is free for Geauga residents with IDs, and admission for all out-of-county residents is $20, even if they are registered by or included on the same reservation as a resident. To learn age/weight restrictions, safety guidelines and more, visit the district's website.
With at least two weeks' prior notice, Thursdays can also be reserved by outside camp or corporate groups with variable schedules based on group needs. Contact Trevor at [email protected] or 440-226-2548 for more information.
Those who don't want such a grand or scheduled adventure can try Claridon Woodlands' 12-foot-high, 900-square-foot freeform boulder wall, complete with new 2024 routes, the release stated.
Meanwhile at Headwaters Park's Boathouse, kayaks and canoes can be borrowed first-come-first-served and taken out onto the East Branch Reservoir on Thursdays through Mondays.
Geauga residents with an ID can borrow for free, up to two hours for canoe and kayak and one hour max for paddleboats. For out-of-county residents, borrowing costs $7 for child kayak, $10 for adult single kayak, $14 for tandem kayak or canoe, and $18 for paddleboats.
Provided life vests must be worn at all times, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and no dogs are permitted on the boats, according to the release. Visit the park district website for more information.
Periodic updates and schedule exceptions for both opportunities canalso be found throughout the season at geaugaparkdistrict.org under News & Updates.
