Gayle King admits to doing a 'sexy photo shoot' with college boyfriend: Photos 'will never see the light of day'
The second season of Ashley Graham’s podcast Pretty Big Deal is off to a strong start after the model premiered its first episode with Gayle King, and the two engaged in some pretty out-of-pocket conversation.
The award-winning journalist, who was chosen as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2019, was an open-book when it came to chatting with Graham. King even admitted to having taken some nude photos back in college.
“I was dating a guy who was a photographer and I thought, ‘OK, let’s have a sexy photoshoot.’ Now, my idea of a sexy photoshoot, I was nude. But Ashley, I was wearing rollers,” King said, referring to curlers in her hair. “I’m posing, I’m doing all the things. I mean, you stick your butt out, you stick your boobs out.”
But, the 64-year-old explained that she has assurance that the photos can never be resurfaced.
“I went with him to the dark room to develop them and then when they were done I got all the negatives, so I know that they will never see the light of day,” she explained.
She also pointed out that kids sharing risqué photos through their phones and on social media today aren’t guaranteed that same security.
“I don’t understand why people send [Snapchat selfies]. I don’t,” King said. “Because once it’s out there it takes a life of its own. I honestly don’t get that, without sounding like the old lady in the room.”
Still, King is no stranger to social media. Graham even praised the CBS This Morning anchor for her use of Instagram and for being so transparent on the app, where she includes photos of herself in no makeup, wearing shapewear and even her numbers on the scale.
“People have eyes,” King said when explaining why she’s comfortable showing her unedited self. “People get to see me on TV and know that she can look halfway decent, so maybe that’s part of it too.”
