Gamer arrested after alleged rape of 15-year-old girl overheard on Playstation microphone
An 18-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl, which reportedly took place while he paused his video game but left the console’s microphone on.
Daniel Fabian was arrested on Nov. 21 over the incident that occurred on June 28 in New Port Richey, Fla., according to local news station Fox 13. Fabian was playing Grand Theft Auto on his PlayStation 4 when he told another player on the multiplayer network that he was taking a break to “smash,” the arrest affidavit states.
While the game paused for approximately 15 minutes, another player heard a girl cry out in distress and say “no.” The girl confirmed to investigators that Fabian put his hand on top of her mouth and forced himself on her, said Fox 13.
A medical examination supported the girl’s rape claim, and a DNA test confirmed Fabian as the suspect. The man is being held at a detention center and has been charged with lewd and lascivious battery and sexual activity with a victim 12 to 15 years of age, according to Pasco Sheriff’s records.
