'Friends' Star Matthew Perry Poses for Rare Photo With His Dad
Matthew Perry
Matthew Perry celebrated the joy of family time with a new photo he shared posing alongside his father, fellow actor John Bennett Perry.
The 54-year-old Friends alum shared the snap on his Instagram feed on Sunday, Oct. 15, simply captioning it: "Here is me, and my father John, both holding a beverage."
In the photo, Matthew and John, 82, stand side by side, arms around one another as they smile at the camera. The two look relaxed, with Matthew's shoes off and a glass of something in their hands. It's unclear exactly where the photo was taken, but it's likely either Matthew's or John's home.
YouTuber Arron Crascall commented on John's expression, writing, "Could he be [any more] prouder!!!" referencing a popular line from Chandler in Friends.
"Love those two guys ??????," wrote another, while a third fan said, "I love your Dad, a fan of him and you????."
Many fans also shared their appreciation for Matthew's book, Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, which came out last November. In the memoir, Matthew talks a lot about his history with addiction, including drugs and alcohol, and it seems like it touched a lot of people.
"I’ve read your book. Twice. One of the reasons I decided to get sober," read a comment on the new photo. Someone else shared the kind message, "I just finished your book. Those of us that are long-time fans had no clue what you were going through. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I was truly touched and I hope you continue to stay healthy!" There were many similar notes throughout the comments.
After the release of Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir, Matthew traveled around promoting the book, which became a #1 New York Times bestseller. Now, the actor appears to be taking a well-deserved break to relax and spend time with family.
