Fran?ois Halard's New Book Will Transport You to Greece
While international travel remains up in the air for most Americans without a second passport, many of us are fondly remembering old trips and holding tight to the promise of new ones. If you're longing to escape to Greece (even if from afar for the moment) there is no better companion than Fran?ois Halard's new book of photography, Fashion Eye: Greece, published by Louis Vuitton. Halard has traveled the globe to photograph the houses, gardens, and studios of towering figures like Yves Saint Laurent, Robert Rauschenberg, Louise Bourgeois, and Cy Twombly. His glimpses into these private, inner worlds have made him one of the most celebrated interior and architectural photographers of our time.
In Halard's new book, there are stunning ocean vistas, shots of crumbling ruins, and closeups of sinewy Classical sculptures—this is Greece, after all. But he also zeroes in on the ordinary and the textural: colorful windows and doors left ajar with just a glimpse of what's on the other side; an artfully cluttered desk; stacks of books; a striped, shiny banquette. These moments feel both mundane and exhilarating— after months in the same surroundings, how nice it would be to live in someone else's space, halfway around the world. Fashion Eye: Greece will be available in Louis Vuitton stores, at louisvuitton.com, and in selected bookstores on October 8th.

A little wanderlust while travel to Europe is suspended, these photographs are an ode to both ancient splendor and everyday life.
