This Is Florida's Best Family-Friendly Beach, According to TripAdvisor
Love Florida beaches? The Sunshine State has no shortage of amazing oceanfront enclaves. But if you're looking for a spot to bring the little ones along, Siesta Beach in Siesta Key, Florida along the Gulf of Mexico is a winner.
As in, an actual winner in TripAdvisor's annual Travelers' Choice awards, as chosen by million of travelers across the globe. The popular travel site and review platform determines their yearly winners "based on the quantity and quality of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor, gathered over a 12-month period," according to a company press release.
Named #6 of the top 25 beaches in the United States, Siesta Beach is among many other Florida oases, including Clearwater Beach (#1), Panama City Beach (#3), Saint Pete Beach (#4), and several others.
But the folks at TripAdvisor have singled out Siesta Beach for its family-friendly appeal, spotlighting it in a recent piece on 6 Travelers’ Choice Beaches That Are Great for Kids. Offering "kid-friendly amenities including a playground, toilets, and lifeguard supervision," along with gorgeous 99% quartz sand and calm waters, Siesta Beach also boasts a free parking lot that holds almost 1,000 cars.
To get to Siesta Key, airport options include Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport (about a 25-minute drive), St.Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport (about an hour drive), and Punta Gorda Airport in Charlotte County (about an hour drive).
