It's the final weekend of April and the Galesburg area is continuing to gear up for the summer.

Live on the Patio: Cherry St. Combo “Chameleon” Album Release Party

What: The Knox College Cherry St. Jazz Combo celebrates the release of new album “Chameleon” with a concert on the patio. The album is on all streaming platforms; CD’s are available for $10.

When: 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 26

Chamber Ribbon Cutting at Readings, Reiki and Gems

What: Celebrate the business’ new location and expansion in the Historic Seminary Street Shopping District. No RSVP required.

Off to the Races

What: Sign up for either the 5K or 1M run. All runners welcome.

Forgottonia Vintage Flea Market

What: This event will have multiple vendors with vintage clothing, antiques and more. Food and beer will be available.

Independent Bookstore Day

The John Pecsi Show: RAA Summer Kick-off

What: Enjoy the start of patio season with The John Pecsi Show band on the patio (weather pending). They are a rock 'n' roll style local band featuring multiple musicians.

Meet the Author/Book Signing Barbara Schock: Sandburg’s Hometown: A Selected Anthology

What: The book was released in March 2024. It includes 145 of Schock’s original 401 “Sandburg’s Hometown” articles originally posted on sandburg.org. Schock’s articles focus on the people, institutions, events and issues that shaped late 19th-century Galesburg during Carl Sandburg’s boyhood. Many articles were inspired by Sandburg’s autobiography “Always the Young Strangers.” All proceeds go to support the work of the Carl Sandburg Historic Site Association.

Expression Session with Karen Noble

What: Join artistic gathering to connect with other creatives. Create freely with various mediums such as acrylic paints, chalk pastels, watercolors and oil pastels. All materials and basic instruction provided.

Carmina Burana Performance

What: See the Galesburg Community Chorus perform Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" at the annual spring concert. The performance is dedicated in loving memory to Mary Gibbs, a musical mentor and beloved friend to all who knew her. Tickets are available on the GCC website or at the door.

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 27

Eighth Annual Rummage Sale

What: The annual indoor rummage sale benefits Operation Christmas Child. All proceeds go toward the cost of shipping the boxes the church sends each year. There will be home decor, kitchenware, appliances, holiday decor, bedding, purses, luggage, kid’s toys and clothes, electronics, outdoor items, guy stuff, odd and ends, knick knacks, wooden furniture, baked goods and more.

Prairie-oke

What: Prairie Players karaoke includes Broadway-themed music, karaoke and specialty drinks.
