Celebrate the 248th birthday of the good ol' U.S. of A. at all-American fests taking place at some of the most beautiful bodies of water that gave Lake County its name (plus some other nice, nearby places, too).
From pageants featuring little ones dressed up as fireworks to water ski shows to seaplanes flying overhead, expect each Lake community to show off what makes them a classic hometown.

June 29 | Lady Lake celebrates with 'the Big Bang!'
Get an early jump on fireworks and holiday fun at Lady Lake's "The Big Bang!" taking place at the Guava Street Athletic Complex, 221 W Guava St., on Saturday, June 29.
It all starts at 6 p.m., and "The Big Bang!" lives up to its name, culminating in one of the area's largest fireworks shows at 9:15 p.m. Groove Slayers will perform, and festivities include a watermelon-eating contest, arts and crafts table, food trucks and vendors and VIP area for $50 are all featured. The event's kids' zone amuses the little ones and juniors with a foam party, mechanical bull, bounce houses and dunk tank for $8 (cash only). Single tickets for the mechanical bull or dunk tank are $3 each.
While you can bring chairs and blankets, pets, coolers, and alcohol are not permitted. Overflow parking will be at the Rolling Acres Sports Complex with a free shuttle service to and from the event between 6 and 10:30 p.m. Details: ladylakefl.gov orAmy Alicea at [email protected].
JUNE 30 | Ice cream social, patriotic concert in Mount Dora
First Presbyterian Church of Mount Dora, 222 W. Sixth Ave., Mount Dora, presents a free star-spangled performance to gear you up for Fourth of July week on Sunday, June 30, at 4 p.m. Kasey Cox, Rick Vale and Janell Woodyard provide vocal stylings with John Lowe on drums and Randy Frieling on piano. JULY 3 | Mount Dora's Freedom on the Waterfront
Enjoy live music and watch fireworks over Mount Dora from Elizabeth Evans Park, 100 N. Donnelly St., Mount Dora, and Simpson's Cove, 311 S. Tremain St. Before things go boom, take the kids to a play area just for them. Inner Circle and All-4-One perform. Festivities take place from 5 to 10 p.m. with fireworks at 9 p.m. Information is still forthcoming; look for event updates at ci.mount-dora.fl.us/972/Special-Events.
JULY 4 | Tavares 4th of July parade, fest and fireworks
The Seaplane City will kick of the patriotic festivities with a street party at 4:45 p.m. and a parade at 5 p.m. along Main Street, which will coincide with a seaplane flyover over Main Street.
After the parade, head to a family-friendly patriotic festival in Wooten Park with live music, community vendors, food trucks, a kid zone and more after the parade. A kids dance party begins the fun by Lake Dora at 6 p.m. Headliner Groove Slayers, "the ultimate party band," takes the stage at 6:30 p.m. to get the crowd revved up with high-energy hits. Fireworks are at 9 p.m.
Seating is limited. Bring a chair or blanket. Free parking is available in the parking garage at 200 N. Sinclair Ave. Wooton Park is located at 100 E. Ruby St. Details: tavares.org.
July 4 | Baseball, water skis and carnival rides in Leesburg
Celebrate the U.S.'s birthday at Leesburg's Star-Spangled Spectacular featuring a water ski show on Lake Harris, live music, food vendors, carnival-style amusements and a big fireworks display at Leesburg’s upcoming Fourth of July celebration.
The event begins at noon at Venetian Gardens, 1 Dozier Court, Leesburg. The water ski starts at 5 p.m. The Licorice Sticks Dixieland Band and O'Gilvie Trio take the stage with live music at 6 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m. See the event's Facebook page for updates and details.
July 4 | Soldiers Hops for Heroes fundraiser fest at Great Chicago Fire
Downtown Leesburg mainstay Great Chicago Fire will be tapping the Homefront IPA for the Soldiers' Angels Hops for Heroes campaign. Celebrate Independence Day at Groveland's Lake David Park, 450 S. July 4 | Clermont's Red, White & Boom Celebration
Take part in a 4th of July celebration that offers fun for all ages — live music, food trucks, a pie-eating contest, the Kids Little Firecracker Costume Competition and fireworks going boom over Lake Minneola. July 4 | Warehouse Social Fourth of July Celebration
In celebration of their fifth anniversary, the Warehouse folks are giving away free one-year memberships to anyone who comes to their 4th of July anniversary celebration from 1:30 to 10 p.m. (You must mention the Facebook event page to your server).
Says founder John Sokol: "We will be having free food and live music. Watch the Leesburg fireworks from the best seat in the house (plenty of parking without the crowds). July 5 | Eustis' 2024 Hometown Celebration, concert and ski show
Expect all-American fun at the city of Eustis' 2024 Hometown Celebration on Friday, July 5, from 5 to 10 p.m. in Ferran Park.
Events will include the Central Florida Ski Show, kids activities, vendors, food trucks, live music and more. Rockabilly/pop performer Frankie Moreno fittingly brings his Elvis/Jerry Lee Lewis gyrations to the park's vintage bandshell at 8 p.m. Emmy-nominated for his national TV special “Songs at Home," Moreno stars in a PBS special concert titled “Frankie Moreno In Concert." A fireworks finale caps it off at 9:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Check the city's page on Facebook for details and updates.
