Fine dining to over-the-top treats, a trip to Foxwoods will take care of your cravings

Foxwoods Resort Casino has a wide range of dining options and some dining deals to boot.

Don't expect to successfully limit your Weight Watcher points here. Though you get all your steps in exploring the huge casino, one of the largest in the U.S.

You can dine at one of the food courts with a classic Regina's Pizza (from Boston's North End), nostalgically at Johnny Rockets or casually with New York flair at Junior's Restaurant. Or you can reserve at one of their world class steakhouses.

You don't have to gamble or sports bet to dine. You'll find families seeking the perfect spot for a birthday celebration or family meal. The whole resort is non-smoking.

You might even want to stay at the Grand Pequot Tower or Fox Tower. That's what I did when I went to a concert for Tower of Power.

Here are some spots that might bring you over the line to Connecticut for an adventure.

Sugar Factory

The Sugar Factory is a decadent delight for shakes, cocktails, waffles and breakfast. They have an old-time candy store adjacent for take-home, fill your own bags.

Everything is over the top at Sugar Factory and that is OK because it's so fun. The menu is all decadent shakes, waffles and burgers.

It's a popular place to stop for a post-concert cocktail. Though just as many tables were sipping on "Insane Shakes," as the menu describes them. Think waffles on top of whipped cream on top of peanut butter cups. For breakfast, the French toast and waffle selections are outrageous (yay) and pair perfectly with their excellent hot chocolate.

The Golden Dragon is like the calm away from the storm at Foxwoods. The dining rooms are elegant and quiet and it just feels zen compared to the other eateries. If that's what you seek, you'll find it here with excellent service and fine food.

David Burke Prime

Dining feels so luxe here, from the outrageous double-thick maple bacon appetizer to the outstanding cocktails and extensive wine list. It's a very good meal and a good show. The restaurant is huge but the wine tower dwarfs it. It holds thousands of bottles.

All cuts of meat served at the restaurant are dry-aged in-house. That happens amid bricks of pink Himalayan salt in the dry-aging room where meats sit for 28, 40, 55 or 76 days. Beef lovers rejoice here.

There's also a three-course prix-fixe menu for $65 with choice of appetizer (including clams casino), entree (including Faroe salmon, prime rib and filet mignon) and dessert from 4 p.m. to close on Monday to Thursday, and all day Sunday.
