Like Feathered Hair & Women’s Lib? Then You’ll Love Alicia Silverstone’s New Comedy ‘American Woman’
Love Clueless? Well, imagine a plot where Cher Horowitz grew up in the ’70s and married Christian, and he cheated on her with Amber. Sounds juicy, right? Welp, that’s essentially the plot of Alicia Silverstone’s new comedy series American Woman.
Silverstone stars as Bonnie Nolan, a Beverly Hills housewife loosely based on Real Housewives star Kyle Richards’s mom, whose primary job is to look smoking hot when her husband comes home. But when she catches him cheating on her in a dingy motel, their marriage suddenly crumbles.
Bonnie fires her maid and gardener (gasp!) to make ends meet and learns about things like “having a mind of [her] own” and swinging (it is the ’70s after all).
Silverstone is accompanied by Mena Suvari (Kathleen), Cheyenne Jackson (Greg), James Tupper (Steve) and Jennifer Bartels (Diana) in the upcoming series from the producers of Shameless. Kelly Clarkson sings the theme song, which is a revamped version of The Guess Who’s karaoke hit “American Woman.” Richards co-executive produces the show.
American Woman premieres on Thursday, June 7, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Paramount Network.
