The 'Fantastic' New Costco Bakery Item That Has Shoppers Riled Up
Chances are, if you shop at Costco, you’ve enjoyed at least one delicious bakery department offering in your lifetime. The popular bulk retailer is known for dropping one fan-favorite hit after the next, and it’s not just the food court that gets to enjoy customer praises. Most recently, Costco’s bakery released a highly-sought after treat, the Orange Dreamsicle Cake, of which customers are still recovering from the release day craze.
What makes Costco’s bakery so great is its vast selection of goods. Customers can choose everything from donuts to cookies, as well as sheet cakes, muffins, croissants and more. And then there’s the bread. With a wide variety of loaves on display, Costco always has a little bit of something for everyone–even if the price is a little less than to be desired. Case in point: the newest tasty release to hit the shelves.
What should be one of the warehouse's more popular releases of the season has shoppers grimacing at its price. And that price point just may be the crux to its success. The Kirkland Signature Rosemary Parmesan Cheese Loaf just arrived at Costco locations nationwide and has been almost immediately met with mixed emotions.
Made with aged parmesan cheese, rosemary, sea salt and extra virgin olive oil, this 32-ounce, hand scored, hearth baked artisan loaf should be a hit amongst customers, but it’s $7.99 price tag has kept many from pulling the trigger.

“Over priced,” one person wrote in one of the top comments of a post shared to Instagram by @costcoailes. “Bring back the two loaf packs for 7.99.”
Fans of the somewhat overpriced bread were quick to come to its defense, labeling the loaf as “fantastic,” while stating that the loaf actually “smells really good if you like rosemary.”
While many voiced their disappointment with the price, it seems like it's not enough to entirely turn everyone away. “I’ve been waiting for this moment,” wrote one relieved and excited customer, “I’ve missed rosemary bread at Costco so much! I can’t wait until this comes to my store.”
Sure, the price point is a little steep with this one, but it’s under $10, which kind of still makes it a win in our book. The loaf would make the perfect dinner table addition for any special occasion, which would then warrant the higher price tag. It can even be paired with your favorite jams and butters to elevate its taste and help justify its purchase. Otherwise, there are tons of other artisanal options to choose from that will allow your money to stay safe in your pocket.
