‘Fantastic Beasts 3’ Gets a Premiere Date (Sorry: It’s Really, Really Far Away)
Looking forward to Fantastic Beasts 3? Well, don’t hold your breath, because it won’t be hitting theaters for another couple of years.
Warner Bros. Pictures just revealed that the third installment will premiere on November 12, 2021. Ron Sanders, the studio’s president of worldwide theatrical distribution and home entertainment, announced the news in a statement and revealed that the follow-up film will begin production in spring 2020.
“J.K. Rowling created an awe-inspiring universe that has captivated people of all ages, taking us on an extraordinary magical journey,” he said. “Warner Bros. is so proud to be the cinematic home of the Wizarding World and is excited about the future of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. We look forward to bringing the third chapter of the five-film series to audiences around the globe in November 2021.”
The first film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, originally premiered in 2016 and served as a prequel to the Harry Potter series. It starred Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Porpentina Goldstein), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Dan Folger (Jacob Kowalski), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Colin Farrell (Percival Graves) Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald) and Zoë Kravitz (Leta Lestrange).
The second installment, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, hit theaters two years later. Although we don’t know much about Fantastic Beasts 3, it will further explore the adventures of Newt and company.
Let the countdown begin.
