Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have reportedly broken up and fans are having a hard time shaking off the news.

On April 8, it was reported that the "Anti-Hero" artist and the Conversations with Friends actor have called it quits after six years together. Specifically, Entertainment Tonight claimed that the pair amicably split a few weeks ago, as "the relationship had just run its course."

Of course, it didn't take long for dedicated Swifties to react to the news, with many taking to social media to weigh in on the alleged split.

One fan commented alongside the cover art for Swift's "Lover" album, "do taylor swift and joe alwyn know they’re not allowed to break up? this album literally exists."

Another chimed in, "taylor swift breaking up with the person she wrote peace about has the potential to be absolutely catastrophic for the girls."

Jokes aside, many called for others to respect Swift's privacy, with one fan account writing on Twitter, "A reminder that Taylor is a real person with real emotions, regardless of whether the speculations are true or not."

In fact, one Swiftie was entirely unworried about the update, stating, "If there is one thing I know, it’s that Taylor Swift is going to be okay."

Swift and Alwyn's love story started back in 2016. However, the pair chose to keep their romance relatively out of the spotlight, with Alwyn even contributing to some of Swift's songs under the alias William Bowery.
