Fans Call Out Scheana Shay for Making Scandoval ‘All About Herself’

Scheana Shay probably isn't feeling "Good as Gold" right now.
On Tuesday, Dec. 12, Shay gave new insight into the aftermath of best friend Ariana Madix's breakup with fellow Vanderpump Rules star Tom Sandoval. However, it appeared that Shay focused more on her "struggle" amid her friends' split than how her longtime bestie is coping.
Specifically, while appearing on the Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Shay broke down in tears while discussing trying to stay loyal to Madix while also missing her friendship with Sandoval (who infamously cheated on Madix with co-star Rachel "Raquel" Leviss).
"I don't know that Ariana will ever understand how hard this was on me personally," Shay said while wiping away tears. "It has been such a struggle to try and stay loyal while working on putting myself first."
Per Shay, she struggled with this dilemma throughout the upcoming 11th season. She continued, "It didn't happen to me. I wasn't cheated on. But there was a lot that he did do personally to me. And I'm someone who always tries to work towards a path of forgiveness. Because that's just who I am."
She added, "Outside of Ariana, I feel like I was the person next, mostly directed by all of this, but I'm not allowed to feel anything because it's not about me. Because it's only about her."
Yet, moments later, Shay confessed, "It kind of is about me."
The Bravo personality—who is an original cast member of Vanderpump Rules alongside Sandoval—has faced quite a bit of backlash already for this interview, with many fans accusing Shay of making the drama about herself.
"Scheana making something that literally has zero to do with her all about herself? Shocking," one blunt comment noted. Another chimed in, "Scheana it’s not about you LOL."
A third wrote, "if a dude hurts your bestie that terribly, I don’t care how long you’ve been friends with him. You CUT. HIM. OFF. If he can’t stay loyal to her, why would you want to be friends with someone like that?"
This is just the latest drama plaguing Shay this week, who was wrapped up in her own cheating scandal thanks to the Season 11 trailer. For those who may've missed it, in the new footage promoting the January return of Vanderpump Rules, co-star Tom Schwartz—who was previously married to co-star Katie Maloney—confessed he too "cheated" with a cast member: "I made out with Scheana in Vegas. Nobody knows that."
Shay has since responded to this headline-making confession.
