Fans Call Reba McEntire a "National Treasure" After Raw Interview
Reba McEntire has been in the entertainment industry for 50 years, but it's clear that she's not slowing down anytime soon. This year, she returned as a coach on The Voice and stole the show at the Super Bowl, Reba sat down with Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show to reflect on her career.
The two had an emotional and heartfelt conversation, leading to Reba asking Drew, "Do you ever think that this is why you're put on earth? Do you think that there's a reason why God put you on this earth? Because you've touched so many people's lives and hearts, and you've changed people's lives."
Drew responded, "So have you."
Reba continued, "That is a true gift. When I thought one time, well, 'I don't want to do this.' Then I thought, well, if I don't do what God's given me to do, he'll give it to somebody else. Well that's my competitive [side] coming out. I don't want them to have it. I want to have that experience."
She continued to reflect on her experience singing before the Super Bowl: "Getting to sing the National Anthem 50 years after I started singing the National Anthem— It's a gift, you know. Here you go. But it's not about me. I'm out there singing, but it's not about me. It's about the song, and hoping to reunite all the division that is going on in the world and our country. Hopefully that will heal hearts. And I kinda think sometimes that's why I'm on the earth. If it's to heal one heart, then great."
The Drew Barrymore Show shared the clip on Instagram, and Reba's messages resonated with fans, who left comments like:
