Fans Applaud Kelly Clarkson for Stripped-Down Version of New Song
Kelly Clarkson treated her fans to a pared down rendition of a song from her new album, Chemistry.
The singer shared the alternate version on YouTube, which features Clarkson accompanied only by her longtime pianist Jason Halbert, a cello, and backup singers, letting her powerful voice shine while belting out breakup ballad "Mine."
Her fans were blown away by the stripped-down take on the track.
"This girl is the definition of perfection even when she’s in pain love you Kelly ???," someone wrote.
A different fan shared the rush of emotions that Clarkson's performance gave them, writing, "Kelly doesn't sing..... Kelly puts words and emotions into music and makes you FEEL what she is singing. Powerhouse and a legend. Again Kelly, thank you for this amazing album! It's your best one yet, and that is saying something!"
A fan opined that this version manages to be somehow better than the excellent one on the album, commenting, "She gives me chills and somehow always manages to sound 100x better live then [sic] her already perfect recorded version. Never heard a song that embodies the broken heart after a breakup so beautifully and tragic before. Long live the Queen ?."
Another commenter agreed, writing, "Wow! This is incredible. Love everything about this performance. I actually prefer this version so much more than the original."
The talk show host released Chemistry on June 23, which marked her first album—with the exception of her 2021 Christmas record—since 2017. The LP delves into the dissolution of her marriage to Brandon Blackstock, whom she divorced in 2021.
