Families get together in celebration of fatherhood
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — It’s a day where we give thanks to those who help raise us.
On Father’s Day in Bakersfield, kids and dads are celebrating in their own special way.
One popular dad activity is the sport of golf.
Paul Brley and three-year-old Westin, hit the links to make memories like the ones Paul shared with his father and grandfather.
“Just brought the little guy out, wanted to do the same thing I used to do with my dad and my grandfather. Get out here, have some good times and make some memories,” said Brley. “I remember coming out to this golf course with my grandfather and dad, so it’s a lot of memories out here.”
“We’re just gonna hit some balls,” said Westin.

While some were spending time with their kids, other dads were celebrating their kids to be. Andre Gerardo, a professional boxer from Bakersfield, was celebrating a baby on the way.
He spoke about memories with his father and what he likes about fatherhood.
“My favorite memory with my father is definitely fishing. I love fishing with my father,” said Gerardo.
He also spilled the beans on what he was hoping for this time around.
“I’m hoping for a boy, I’m hoping to have two little guys, but as long as she’s healthy I’m good with a boy or girl,” said Gerardo. “I feel great. It’s a boy and I’m very happy.”
