Fallout Creator Todd Howard Holding Back Content for Fallout 5 Game
Todd Howard is telling Fallout’s showrunners to stay in their lane.
The creator of the Fallout series of video games is making sure Prime Video’s upcoming adaption doesn’t clash with the next game in the series, Fallout 5.
“Well, there were some things where I said, ‘Don’t do this because we are going to do that in Fallout 5,'” Howard tells DenOfGeek.
Fallout showrunner Jonathan Nolan added, “We know all about Fallout 5. We’re not telling anyone.”
The post-apocalyptic drama isn’t based on any specific Fallout game, telling an original story in the now-30-year-old video game universe. However, its events happen after Fallout 4, according to Nolan.
“Our series sits in relation to the games as the games sit in relation to each other. It’s almost like we’re Fallout 5.”

Nolan is going to be holding onto his secrets about the actual Fallout 5 game. The last game, Fallout 4, took seven years to develop, and its sequel doesn’t look likely to drop any time before 2028.
At least he’ll be able to freely talk about the first season, though, when all eight episodes release April 11 on Prime Video.
