Last week the news that high street retailer Superdrug were offering Botox and fillers hit the headlines, dividing opinion across the board. In some ways it's a brilliant idea: it should, hopefully, encourage women and men who can't afford premium prices for treatments away from the cheap, unregulated beauticians administering injections in hair salons and even from home.
But on the other hand, is this a dangerous step too far making injectables so normalised that it's considered the same as getting your hair and nails done? Injectables should be in the hands of proper doctors and nurses, and although it doesn't mean that just because it's going mainstream that its use will be compromised, it's certainly signalling a shift in the beauty service industry.
Whether you agree with the use of injectables in the pursuit of line-freezing, cheekbone-sharpening or eyebrow-lifting, the fact that it's now on the high street is certainly a big debate. So what are your thoughts? Should aesthetic injectables stay firmly in the hands of doctors and nurses in clinics? Should the industry become more regulated? Is it a step too far to consider high street injectables as a reasonable treatment for women in their twenties and thirties to have, or is it completely acceptable?
Join us from 1-2pm BST on Thursday 23 August as a panel of experts try to answer these questions and more.
