The Expanse may be saved by Amazon thanks to 'big fan' Jeff Bezos
There could be good news on the horizon for fans of The Expanse, the critically-lauded scifi drama which is about to enter its last season on Syfy.
There are rumours that the Alcon Television Group, which finances and produces the show, is in ongoing talks with Amazon about a fourth season. Sources say Bezos is a big fan of the book and was livid that the TV series went to NBCUniversal-owned Syfy. The move is said to have ignited Bezos’ demand that Amazon Studios brass find the company’s version of Game of Thrones.
Based on James S Corey’s series of novels The Expanse is set 200 years hence in a future where humans have colonised most of our galaxy. The first season combines political themes with a whodunnit plot.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos is a "big fan" of the books, and was " livid" when the series went to Syfy.

Fans have been lobbying streaming companies to pick up the show, and paid for a #SaveTheExpanse banner to be flown over Amazon HQ in Santa Monica last week.
However, any deal with Amazon will be complicated by the fact that whilst Amazon already owns the North American streaming rights to the critically-lauded show, Netflix carries it in the rest of the world except for New Zealand.
