EXCLUSIVE: Lay's Debuts Its Next New Potato Chip Flavor
After months of voting, America has crowned a new Lay's "Do Us A Flavor" winner. Ellen Sarem from San Antonio, Texas is walking home a million dollars richer tonight for her "Crispy Taco" flavor idea.
Sarem says tacos were the first meal she cooked for her now-fiancé, and though she got off to a rough start – she forgot the cheese and salsa, oops – she has since perfected the recipe, and now it's available in chip form.
"You can taste the crunch of the taco shell, the spiciness of the beef, the sharpness of the cheddar, even the freshness of the lettuce, it's amazing," Sarem said in a press video. "Lay's did an amazing job."
Sarem was one of three finalists in this year's "Do Us A Flavor" competition, along with Lindsay Hoffman's Everything Bagel with Cream Cheese and Gregory Pope's Fried Green Tomato flavors.
Millions of fans voted on Lay's website and social media between July 24 and October 8, with Sarem's Tex-Mex flavor coming out on top. As Sarem herself said, now people can have taco night any day of the week.
