Everything to Stream on Netflix This January
New year, new streaming faves? Not necessarily. This month on Netflix, fan favorites like Grace and Frankie, Sex Education, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina are coming back. Two new competition series — The Circle and Next in Fashion — are both launching in the month as well.
As always, Netflix is making us say good bye to some titles, including Friends, which some of us have been re-watching for months as the show's 25th anniversary came and went. The Circle
Based on the U.K. competition show of the same name, The Circle is the ultimate popularity contest that’s played through a unique social media platform. Each contestant is competing to win $100,000 by connecting with others and gaining influence on the platform without getting voted out. But there’s a catch. In order to win, contestants can choose to act as themselves or someone else through the game. So, in true social media form, catfishing is very likely to happen — when would-be influencers and scammers come together to fight for a cash prize, well, sounds like good TV. Available January 1.
Grace and Frankie: Season 6
The beloved comedy series starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin is back again for season 6, and it’s going to be nothing short of hilarious. Get ready to see how married life is treating Grace (Fonda) and Nick (Peter Gallagher) and how Frankie’s fitting into the new equation. Available January 15.
Sex Education: Season 2
Awkward teenager Otis Milburn is no longer a single man in season 2 of Sex Education. The late bloomer is now in a relationship with his girlfriend Ola, but he must learn how to master his newly discovered sexual urges in order to keep their partnership on steady ground. As always, Gillian Anderson is a revelation as his extremely open-minded mom. Available January 17.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 3
In part three of this sinister drama series, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) is trying to free her boyfriend from eternal damnation, all while dealing with her new reality as “Queen” and the challenges that come with the position. Available January 24.
Next in Fashion
Hosted by Queer Eye’s Tan France and designer Alexa Chung, this high-stakes competition series features 18 talented designers who have worked for well-known brands and dressed A-list celebrities. The contestants are competing for a chance to win $250,000 and will be expected to create designs that center on trends or styles that have influenced fashion across the world. Available January 29.
