Eve Is Trying to Forget It All in First 'Killing Eve' Clip

From ELLE

She's alive.

Of course, Killing Eve wouldn't actually kill off our beloved Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh)—even though Villanelle (Jodie Comer) left her for dead in the season 2 finale.

The third season of the BBC America series opens with the assassin settling into genuinely unexpected circumstances (no spoilers!) while Eve is doing...not great. In a clip from the premiere exclusive to ELLE.com, the former MI6 agent gets an unexpected visit from Kenny (Sean Delaney), who breaks down exactly what happened after the final moments of season 2—but not before admonishing Eve's recklessness: "You really shouldn't leave your front door open considering the amount of people who've tried to kill you."

Has Eve given up? She's in a new, not-so-nice apartment complete with the requisite fighting neighbors, suggesting she and Nico have yet to repair their relationship (RIP Gemma). And she doesn't want to talk about anything, telling Kenny she prefers to keep things "buried."

It's about to get a lot worse for Eve, Oh warns, but at least she'll be back to work: "A traumatic loss keeps Eve on the hunt while still keeping Villanelle at bay," the actress says. "Eve needs to do it on her own terms."

And Comer promises fans will learn more about America's favorite psychopath: "We delve into Villanelle's past, witnessing the life she could have led and the misfortunes that shaped her."

Suzanne Heathcote, who took the reins from season 2 lead writer Emerald Fennell, tells ELLE.com she relished writing for Villanelle: "We had a lot of fun this season trying to think of new and inventive ways to kill people." Executive producer Sally Woodward Gentile adds, "Watch out for the rose garden."

Killing Eve season 3 premieres Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. EST on BBC America and AMC. Catch up on the first two seasons here.
