Euphoria Season 3 Future Uncertain as HBO Delays Filming
Euphoria is facing a major delay.
Season 3 of the hit teen drama was due to start filming in May, but according to a statement made by HBO to Deadline, those plans have now been scrapped.
“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season," the statement reads. "In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”
While the delay is certain to disappoint fans of the show, Euphoria season 3 is still very much in development. The news will come as a relief in the wake of rumors Euphoria had been outright cancelled.
Things have changed significantly since the show's premier in 2019. Most of the core cast now have significantly higher profiles than when they first joined the show.
Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney and Austin Abrams are all bona fide movie stars who’ve headlined some of 2024’s biggest films.
And let’s not forget the biggest of all, Zendaya, who already had two Marvel Spider-Man movies under her belt before playing troubled drug addict Rue Bennett in Euphoria, and has since starred in Dune: Part Two, which has grossed half a billion.
The first two seasons of Euphoria are currently airing on Hulu and Max.
A previous version of this story centred around the rumor that the series had been cancelled, which has since been debunked.
