Eugenie Just Shared the Sweetest Throwback Pic from Her Engagement
Princess Eugenie celebrated Throwback Thursday early by posting an adorable Instagram snapshot of her and her now-husband, Jack Brooksbank, from the day they publicly announced their engagement in January 2018.
"#Tbt to exactly this day last year - Jack and I announced our engagement. What a year it’s been since then and how exciting for 2019," she captioned the photo, which amassed over 75,000 likes since she shared yesterday.
Color coordinated in black with pops of red and white, Eugenie wore a floral Erdem dress, and Jack sported a suit. The official portrait, taken in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace, also gave the public the first look at her stunning engagement ring.
Interestingly enough, during a joint interview with the BBC, the two shared that when Jack proposed in picturesque Nicaragua-"We had a beautiful volcano, [the] sun was setting, birds were flying," he said-he popped the question without a ring.
"I found a ring in a jeweler's, and then proposed to Eugenie without it," he said, noting that he wanted his bride-to-be to sign off on the ring-a pink padparadscha sapphire surrounded by smaller diamonds.
He continued, "Why I loved it so much is [because] it changes color from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie, that she changes color, and it's just so amazing."
Ten months after their epic proposal, the pair tied the knot on October 12, 2018 at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle-the same church where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married in May.
For her big day, the bride wore a sophisticated v-neck gown back by British fashion house, Peter Pilotto. The gown's open back showcased her back scar from a scoliosis surgery she had when she was 12 years old.
