Emilia Clarke Just Said Her Emmys Dress Was Inspired By Jennifer Lopez
Emilia Clarke wore a dress inspired by Jennifer Lopez to the 2019 Emmy Awards.
The Game of Thrones star tagged J.Lo in a pre-Emmys Instagram, giving her a "heads up" that she inspired this year's lewk.
Emilia's gown appears to be an homage to Jennifer's iconic 2000 Grammy Awards Versace dress.
Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke just stepped out on the Emmy Awards 2019 red carpet in a low-cut navy gown that was—get this—inspired by Jennifer Lopez. Yep, while on the way to the awards show, the 32-year-old actress tagged the one and only J.Lo in a car Instagram selfie. "@jlo just as heads up you have inspired this years lewk. ??♀?," Emilia captioned the post before thanking her glam squad for helping her get Emmys-ready.
So, how exactly did Jenny from the Block inspire Daenerys from Westeros? Well, from the cut of Emilia's dress, it looks like an homage to the #iconic green Versace dress J.Lo wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards (ya know, the one that launched Google Images).
While there are some obvious differences in pattern, material opacity, and sleeve-length, the overall style of the dress is pretty similar.
ICYMI, Jennifer recently walked Milan Fashion Week in an updated version of THAT dress in the Versace 2020 fashion show.
Emilia's dress looks arguably even more like the updated version, thanks to its sleeveless design (all the better to show off both actresses' toned arms, amirite?). That goes double when you peep Emilia's gown from the side and see some familiar-looking sides (again, all the better to show off these ladies' toned cores!).
While the Hustlers star has yet to respond to Emilia's Instagram homage, her Last Christmas costar, Henry Golding, commented, "Get it gurl! ??????" And, clearly, she is.
