Elizabeth Hurley Embraces Barbiecore With Hot Pink Sequin Pantsuit
She matched the Empire State Building!
Elizabeth Hurley stunned in a bright pink pantsuit on Oct. 3, when she visited the Empire State Building in New York City as a global ambassador for The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign.
In honor of the campaign's 30th anniversary, the Empire State Building was lit up in bright pink, the signature color of the breast cancer ribbon used as a symbol for the disease globally.
Hurley, alongside William P. Lauder, hosted a lighting ceremony on Monday, spreading awareness and encouraging more people to check for breast cancer often.
At the event, Hurley wore an outfit that was bright, sparkly, and fully embraced the Barbiecore aesthetic.
In comments made to Daily Mail, Hurley said, "Evelyn H. Lauder co-created the Pink Ribbon and founded The Estée Lauder Companies' Breast Cancer Campaign as she recognised that women around the world were dying from breast cancer, and no one was talking about it."
"Ironically, it was around this same time that I had just lost my beloved grandmother to breast cancer – she put off going to the doctor for a year and never spoke about it," she continued.
Hurley stated that while there have been improvements and "it's encouraging to see that breast cancer is not the taboo it once was...we still need to do more to improve self-checking rates as we know that early detection saves lives."
Katie Couric also recently spoke up about getting breast cancer screenings often after revealing her breast cancer diagnosis.
Other landmarks around the world, like the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus in Athens, Greece, were also lit up pink in honor of the campaign.
As the Empire State Building lit up pink on Oct. 3, it made many people think of the film Mean Girls, as there's an iconic line in the movie that simply states, "It's October 3rd," and of course, pink's a significant color in the film.
The building even played up this connection, sharing a photo someone took of it lit up pink with the caption, "It's October 3rd," on social media.
