Ed Sheeran Reveals the One Song He Thinks He'll Be Remembered for
At just 32 years old with six studio albums and dozens of hit songs under his belt, Ed Sheeran has already had the kind of career most recording artists dream about. But when it comes to which song he'll most be remembered the most for, the Halifax native gave a somewhat surprising answer.
In a new GQ profile, Sheeran had been discussing with the interviewer how music fans tend to identify artists with wide bodies of work through a single song in their catalog, as the Beatles tend to be known for their most popular hits such as "Yesterday" or Let it Be."
But when asked what he thinks his "Yesterday" will be, Sheeran did not go with "Shape of You," his most-streamed track on Spotify, with over 3.64 billion plays to date. Instead, the singer went with another track from his 2017 album ÷ (Divide).
"'Perfect' is the one where, whenever I play it at a concert, you see the stadium change, and everyone suddenly starts hugging the person next to them," Sheeran explained. As the interviewer anecdotally noted, "Perfect" has also been the first dance song at something like "90 percent of millennial weddings."
