Diane von Furstenberg's Claridge's Christmas Tree Is All About Love
There’s nothing quite like Christmas in London and this year's will be one to remember. Claridge's, the quintessentially British hotel at the center of Mayfair district, has invited Diane von Furstenberg to design an extravagant new Christmas tree. Von Furstenberg’s “Tree of Love,” was unveiled today in the lobby, marking the ninth year Claridge’s has invited a celebrity to create the tree.
The designer's tree-dubbed the Tree of Love-has a celestial theme, and according to the Standard, is decorated with six different animals, including an owl, horse, peacock, dove and mouse. In ancient astrological traditions, those beings represent knowledge, peace, strength and beauty. The animals are silver-leafed, as are 8,000 leaves. The tree also features hand-blown glass balls in blue and 150 glass hearts. "My tree is the Tree of Love, celebrating all aspects of love and life," she told the outlet.
The roster of past guests includes notable designers Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, and Dolce & Gabbana among others, whose themes have run the gamut from woodland fantasy to under the sea.
So, what to expect from von Furstenberg? Perhaps something along the lines of the rooms DVF designed for Claridge’s, featuring the designer’s signature floral patterns and animal prints.
But no matter what direction she takes, the tree is sure to be a Christmas landmark. Of course, if you need ideas for your own Christmas tree creation, we've got you covered.
