Duchess Meghan Reads to Archie in a New Video Released for His Birthday
A first birthday is always the most memorable for new parents, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made sure to ring in Mountbatten-Windsor's big day in the most special way.
The couple have released a video of Duchess Meghan reading to Archie (with the help of Prince Harry behind the camera) to help raise money for Save the Children's #SaveWithStories campaign, which is helping children impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in the U.K. and U.S.
A spokesman tells BAZAAR.com that Harry and Meghan chose to take part in the initiative to help bring much-needed awareness around the urgency of helping the millions of children who urgently need food and learning resources. And what better way than with one of Archie's favorite books—Duck! Rabbit! written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld.
In the video, which has been shared across Save the Children's various Instagram accounts on both sides of the pond, the duchess can be seen holding a giggly Archie, who they both call "Arch," as she turns through the pages of the book, reading the words enthusiastically for her son and the viewer. Cameraman Harry can be heard cheering for Archie when they reach the end of the book and mom Meghan gives him a kiss.
Thirty million children in the U.S. alone rely on school for food and Save the Children are ensuring that as many of them as possible won't go without. Over the recent weeks they have already supplied mobile meal trucks, supported food banks, helped community feeding programs and also provided educational toys, books, and worksheets.
The Sussexes, who are now based in Los Angeles, join a number of high-profile names who have taken part in the initiative, including Jennifer Garner, Kate Winslet, and Jimmy Fallon
