"Drop!"- Skier Hits Classic Road Gap For First Time
Mt. Baker opens tomorrow for the public. And with Mt. Baker comes the iconic road gap (maybe one of the all-time most famous), seen in Everest Hughes' POV footage of him stomping the gap (and then eating it on the runout).
Over the summer, Everest Hughes posted the above video of him hitting the infamous Mount Baker Road Gap last season.
Leif Coopman played guinea pig, jumping the gap prior to Hughes trying the trick, and when Coopman stomped it, the gap seemed doable.
Everest went huge and made it across the pavement, but then with his speed and the uneven terrain after the landing, he ended up crashing. We'll still count it as a make, though!
The Mt. Baker road gap isn't just for skiers. Snowboarders froth on this one, too: Shawn Farmer leaped the Baker Road Gap shirtless, becoming the first person to do so and earning himself a spot on SNOWBOARDER Magazine's Mountain GOAT list.
More recently, Ethan Swadburg and Jonah Williams hit the Baker Road Gap, and man did that fisheye make it look huge!
Steeze machine Henrik Harlaut also hit the gap in his film SALUTE.

Parker White (maybe you know him from one of his Level 1 parts?) also took on the gap, releasing a pretty fine clip to the public making the gap look--almost--minor.
All of this footage is getting us even more psyched for this season.
With Mt. Baker open, we're guessing the trails--and not the gap--are going to be mobbed. But hey, you have to get your ski legs under you before you try airing across any roads.
What do they say, what seems impossible today will one day be your warm up?
Maybe we'll see you at the gap after all.
