Drake Just Quietly Unfollowed A$AP Rocky Following Rihanna's Pregnancy News
It appears not everyone is ecstatic about Rihanna expecting her first child with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky.
Celeb news Instagram PopFaction and various Twitter users claimed that Rihanna's ex-boyfriend Drake quietly unfollowed Rocky on Instagram shortly before the news broke at the beginning of this week.
The reality is a little more complicated. As of February 1, one day after news broke of Rihanna's pregnancy, Drake was still following Rocky on Instagram. He was also following Drake on January 31. (It's possible Drake refollowed Rocky after the rumor started trending or never unfollowed him in the first place.)
On Friday, February 4 though, Rocky was no longer on Drake's follow list. Drake quietly unfollowed him:
Drake also does not follow Rihanna; he reportedly unfollowed her shortly after her 2018 Vogue interview was released where she spoke about them not being friends. Rihanna unfollowed Drake in 2016, following their breakup.
Drake was vocal in the past about how much he adored Rihanna. In 2016, when introducing Rihanna to accept her Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs, he told her and the world, “she's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old, she's one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I've looked up to her even though she's younger than me. She's a living, breathing legend in our industry.”
Rihanna and Drake were romantically involved in 2016 and ultimately broke up in October 2016.
Rihanna addressed Drake in May 2018 in her Vogue interview, making it clear she wasn't a fan of his Vanguard Award speech and that they weren't all that close anymore. (Rihanna, at that point, was dating her billionaire ex Hassan Jameel.)
“The VMAs is such a fan-focused awards show, so having that energy around me, and knowing the people who had received the award in the past, made it feel like a big deal,” she started diplomatically. “Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part. I don’t like too many compliments; I don’t like to be put on blast.”
When asked about her friendship with Drake now, Rihanna said, “We don’t have a friendship now, but we’re not enemies either. It is what it is.”
