The Dragon Prince has been one of Netflix’s most successful animated series, spanning five seasons – with a sixth on the way next year – and attracting millions of viewers. The series has spawned a few graphic novels and novelizations, but the next big thing for the series is kind of interesting: a video game.
As part of Netflix’s Geeked Week celebrations, the company announced a brand-new game based on The Dragon Prince, set to be released next year under the title The Dragon Prince: Xadia. Xadia was first announced years back under the working title Project Arcanum, and at the time was said to be a co-op action RPG.
A new trailer released for the game shows that’s exactly how it turned out — The Dragon Prince: Xadia is, indeed, a co-op action RPG, and it’s bringing a lot of Diablo vibes to the table. Netflix describes it as a “hack & slash looter ARPG,” and promises the ability to team up with friends to fight “iconic Dragon Prince villains.”
Here’s how Netflix describes the game:
The Dragon Prince: Xadia is a hero-based cooperative action RPG from Wonderstorm, the makers of The Dragon Prince hit animated series on Netflix. In the game, explore the world of Xadia with heroes from the series, which is entering its sixth season next year. Step into the boots of Xadia’s greatest champions, team up in co-op missions to fight iconic Dragon Prince villains, and discover new stories with all the heart, humor, and high stakes the series is known for.
While Netflix has yet to announce an exact date for the game, the trailer released for Geeked Week says you’ll be able to play it “soon.” It will, of course, be available on mobile exclusively through Netflix on both iOS and Android, but in a delightful surprise, Netflix says it will also be available on PC.
If the trailer is anything to go buy, The Dragon Prince: Xadia could end up being one of the best games on Netflix when it releases.
