Dolly Parton Shares Unfiltered Opinion of Beyoncé's 'Jolene' Cover

Beyoncé's first country album has officially arrived, and country queen Dolly Parton is giving it her stamp of approval.
Dolly, 78, spoke out on social media on Friday, March 29, following the release of Beyoncé's COWBOY CARTER album, which features a cover of Dolly's own hit song "Jolene."
The scathing track—which originally came out in 1973—features lyrics about an auburn-haired woman who is out to steal another woman's man. And according to Dolly herself, Beyoncé's version is just what that redhead had coming.
"Wow, I just heard Jolene. Beyoncé is giving that girl some trouble and she deserves it!" Dolly wrote in her post, adding a simple red heart emoji in the caption.
"Jolene ain’t got nothing on Miss Honey Bey and Dolly P! ??????" one fan wrote in the comments on Dolly's post.
"Jolene shaking in her boots," someone else quipped, while another added, "Bad day to be a Jolene today."
"Jolene flirted with the wrong man in 1973 and hasn't known peace since??," another commenter joked.
Beyoncé's version of "Jolene" is available to stream now, along with the rest of her first-ever country album, COWBOY CARTER.
Beyoncés version of the country classic notably features several changes in the lyrics, including the replacement of, "I'm begging of you please don't take my man," to "I'm warning you, don't come for my man."
In addition to her song being a cover on the new album, Dolly is also credited on the track "TYRANT," as well as an interlude titled "DOLLY P," which features a 22-second clip of Dolly speaking just before the "JOLENE" track plays.
"Hey Miss Honey Bee, it's Dolly P," the country legend says. "You know that hussy with the good hair you sing about? “Reminding me of someone I knew back when, except she has flaming locks of auburn hair, bless her heart. Just a hair of a different color but it hurts just the same."
