If Your Dog Is Freaking Out From All The Fireworks, Try These CBD Dog Treats

On Trial: FOMO Bones CBD Dog Treats

The Brief: As the CBD market continues to grow, one relatively new sector that's gaining serious traction is CBD for pets. CBD for dogs, specifically, is projected to be the next major category in the wellness space.
As an editor who has personally tested a lot of CBD-infused skincare products and wellness supplements, I'm no stranger to the potential healing benefits of CBD. So, after adopting my very sweet, new fur baby, Jet, earlier this summer from a local animal rescue, I turned to CBD products as part of a greater wellness plan and diet to aid with his nervousness.
When I first stumbled upon Sunday Scaries, which is the parent brand of FOMO Bones, I was impressed by the brand's transparency with regards to product quality, testing standards, and thoughtfully sourced ingredients. I've found their CBD gummies and tinctures to be quite helpful in managing my own occasional restlessness and anxiety, and I've even recommended these products to friends based on my positive experience with using them regularly.
So, when the brand launched FOMO Bones, a line of CBD dog treats formulated specifically to help pups with anxiety, I wanted to try them out with my furry new assistant. I was already familiar with the brand's ingredients and trusted them for my own purposes, so I felt safer trying this new product out with my dog.
Since adopting Jet, he's had mild separation anxiety and is also sensitive to many of the most common anxiety triggers in dogs including thunderstorms, loud noises, traveling, and new stimuli. It's important to note that every dog is different, and before looking to CBD remedies for anxiety, it's also important to chat with your trusted veterinarian before beginning any new wellness supplement for your pet.
Although research is still sparse on the long-term benefits of CBD for pets, studies have found that CBD has powerful anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties — so it makes a lot of sense that pet brands would include this ingredient in their remedies for anxiety, sleeplessness, and hip and joint issues in animals.
If you decide that you do want to try CBD for your dog, start with the ingredient list. I was specifically drawn to FOMO Bones because the CBD is sourced directly from farms in the USA and grown in accordance with the 2014 Farm Bill. I also like the other naturally calming ingredients in these soft dog chews: passion flower, valerian root, and chamomile — herbs found in many teas and natural sleep aids — and L-tryptophan, a natural amino acid which has been found to aid with sleep in dogs. Made in the U.S. with non-GMO ingredients, these soft chews are also made with natural beef protein and bacon flavor, which Jet loooves.
Following the portion chart on the back on the bag, I give Jet up to one full bone a day per his weight (he's a 38-pound baby pitbull mix). Generally, I'll give Jet half a FOMO Bone before bedtime to help calm him down if he's whining or pacing due to scary noises, a thunderstorm, or the much-too-frequent very loud firework display.
Jet can't speak for himself, of course, but judging by his calm demeanor as he gingerly climbs into bed about 30 minutes after enjoying his FOMO Bone, I'd say these little treats work wonders for anxious pups who need to chill out.
Closing Argument: Talk to your vet before you introduce any new wellness product or supplement. Consider weaving these FOMO Bones into your pup's diet if he or she seems anxious or uneasy, especially right before bedtime. As a new dog mama, I highly recommend these calming, natural treats.
