Take a First Look at Jennifer Lopez's Green Engagement Ring from Ben Affleck
"Don't be fooled by the rocks that I got," Jennifer Lopez once sang, but it's precisely those rocks that put the world on ring watch this week, thanks to a diamond stunner the star wore on a very particular finger.
While out in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Lopez was spotted sporting what appears to be a dramatic diamond ring on her left ring finger—the one most commonly associated with engagement and wedding rings—sparking speculation that she and Ben Affleck were once again engaged.
On Friday, the star officially confirmed the news on her site "On the JLo," where she shared a short video of herself tearfully admiring a green diamond ring. The shade has special meaning to the singer, who has previously referred to green as her "lucky color," according to People, writing in a previous newsletter, "I've realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green."
Lopez and Affleck originally dated in the early 2000s, and the 6.10 carat radiant-cut pink Harry Winston diamond engagement ring he gave her in 2002 set off a colored diamond trend and dramatically increased the value of pink diamonds in particular. The couple postponed their wedding plans in 2003, and ultimately ended their relationship in 2004, but the romance was rekindled last year after Lopez called off her engagement to former baseball star Alex Rodriguez.
"I feel so lucky and happy and proud to be with him," the actress told People about Ben earlier this year. "It's a beautiful love story that we got a second chance." She added, "It's beautiful the way it feels very different than it was years ago. ... There's more of an appreciation and a celebration for it, which is nice. When you find somebody and you really, really love them and you get a second chance at that? That is a really rare, precious, beautiful thing and we don't take it for granted."
