Just because Bill Hader is in the spotlight doesn't mean he likes his relationships to be, too. In a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the SNL alum declined to discuss his dating life in order to protect the privacy of his children.

"They just want me to be their dad,” the Barry actor told THR. “They just want me to sit and watch Encanto over and over and over again. So that’s what I do.”

Who is Bill Hader's girlfriend in 2023?

Bill Hader is in a relationship with Beef star Ali Wong. Hader mentioned his “girlfriend” in a recent interview with Collider, and a rep confirmed to Page Six that he was referring to Wong.

Page Six claimed in December 2022 that the pair "had a brief rebound romance" after the Always Be My Maybe actress divorced her husband, Justin Hakuta. At the time, sources told the outlet that Hader and Wong had started dating “at least two months ago,” but were no longer together.

An insider said, "They dated very briefly. They’re just super busy with things, but [the split] was certainly amicable. They’re certainly friends."

It would appear they're now more than friends.

Has Bill Hader ever been married?

Bill Hader is not currently married. He and his ex-wife, director Maggie Carey (The To Do List), tied the knot in 2006. After 11 years of marriage, the Barry star filed for divorce in 2017. According to Entertainment Tonight, the pair reached a divorce settlement in 2018.

Prior to their divorce, in a 2015 interview with Elle, Hader joked, "A crazy night for us is drinking margaritas and going to the Strand bookstore and being kind of drunk." He also shared the story of their first date, during which they got drunk on the steps of the high school where Grease was shot.

Why did Bill Hader get divorced?

Per court documents obtained by The Blast, the Hot Rod actor listed irreconcilable differences as the cause of his split from Maggie Carey. He has since told Variety, “I’m friends with my ex-wife.”

Rachel Bilson

Hader and Bilson starred together in 2013's The To Do List, which was directed by Hader's ex-wife. The former co-stars were spotted grabbing coffee together in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in December 2019. TMZ, which published a photo of the pair, reported that Hader was seen holding Bilson's hand during the outing.

The stars made their relationship red-carpet official at the Golden Globes in January 2020. The following month, a source told People, “They spend a lot of time together and it seems like a serious relationship." However, months later, in July, it was reported that Hader and Bilson had split up.

“Obviously, he and I, we’re not still together, so we broke up. But it was during a time where you could not leave your house,” Bilson said on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast. “...I had to deal with being alone and taking care of my kid and everything else.”

Anna Kendrick

People reported in January 2022 that Hader and Kendrick, who played siblings in the 2019 Disney+ movie Noelle, had been "quietly" dating for over a year.

"They are both very private people, and with the pandemic it was easy to keep it quiet," a source told the magazine. "They're both hysterical so they must keep each other laughing all of the time. She's really, really happy."

In March 2022, a source told Entertainment Tonight that Hader and Kendrick were "in love and very happy in their relationship," but were "in no rush to get engaged." Months later, in June, Entertainment Tonight confirmed that the couple had broken up. Neither has commented on the split.

Page Six first reported on Hader and Wong's coupling in December 2022, but said at the time that the pair had already split. As of April 17, 2023, the outlet reported that the two were back together.

Hader referred to Wong in a recent interview with Collider. “My girlfriend and I were just figuring out that I haven’t had a vacation in 10 years," he said. "I went with her to San Francisco, but that doesn’t really count. So, I’m going to have a vacation."

Why did Bill Hader and Rachel Bilson break up?

Multiple sources told People in July 2020 that the former couple had amicably split. Bilson later revealed on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast that she and Hader weren't able to break up in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"In the beginning [of the pandemic] when you're so isolated and you're so scared because you don't know...you're like, 'Oh my God, I looked at someone...am I gonna die?' And, you know, he has his own family he has to think about it. I had my own family to think about and like, obviously [daughter] Briar's dad...it was like our bubble," Bilson said.
