How to Make a DIY Pajaki Chandelier

What You'll Need

• Faux Succulents

• Wooden 10-inch ring

• Golden String

• Tissue paper; gold and red

• Wooden beads

• Gold-patterned paper straws

• Hot glue

• Double-sided tape

• Scissors

Step 1: Build Succulent Hoop

Mark four even spaces on a 10-inch wood hoop with a pen or permanent marker. Then, glue evenly-spaced faux succulents and red tissue paper pom-poms around the hoop, fully covering the surface.

Step 2: Loop and String

Cut four 60-inch pieces of gold string; gather the strings together and fold in half to create a loop. Make sure all the strings are even at the bottom so the chandelier doesn't become lopsided later on. Once the loop is tied, separate the strings into four sections (two strings per section). Then cut standard-size gold paper straws in half, stringing one straw half onto each of the four sections, followed by a tissue paper pom-pom and another straw. Place a binder clip at the end of the second straw on each of the sections to keep the straws from sliding off while you continue the chandelier.

Step 3: Attach to Hoop

Remove the binder clip from one section of string and tie the two strands to the wooden hoop, using the four lines you previously marked to make sure the strands are tied evenly. Remove the clips from each of the other strands in turn as you attach each strand to the hoop.

Step 4: Continue Stringing

After the four sections are tied to the hoop, separate back into eight separate strands. String a straw, a wood bead, and another straw onto each string, securing with a binder clip. Once all eight strings have been strung, gather the ends of two strings and thread both through a single straw. Repeat to create four strands, and continue stringing beads, pom-poms and straws as desired.

Step 5: Attach Tassel

Gather the ends of all the strings and tie together to secure the strands. Loop and tie the strings onto a store-bought tassel, or cut the strands and attach with hot glue. If hot glue is visible at the top of the tassel, glue tissue pom-poms around the top of the tassel - the more the merrier! Then, use the chandelier's loop to hang your creation.
